My name is Doug Federspiel, and I have over 30 years of experience in the legal field. I use my experience on the bench, as a trial lawyer and working as corporate counsel, to inform the mediation and arbitration sessions that I preside over.

When I graduated from law school, I launched my career as a trial lawyer at a large Yakima firm focused on business litigation. I spent over 15 years there, honing my skills until moving on to Wilkinson Corporation where I took on the role of General Counsel. In that capacity, I advised the board of directors, managed their team of attorneys, and was a member of the company’s investment committee.
In 2011, I had an opportunity to become a district court judge and pivoted from standing in front of the bench to sitting on the bench. After two years of service in the Yakima County District Court, I moved into the role of superior court judge where I served for eight years.
Throughout my career I have built solid relationships within the Washington legal community, becoming intimately familiar with both the structure and the drivers of Washington’s legal system.

My building has an area designed for negotiations that is comprised of two offices joined by a single hallway. Each office has its own kitchenette and bathroom, providing each party a private and comfortable area to use for the duration of the session. This allows me to quickly shuttle between the two legal teams and keep negotiations moving along without delay.
I also offer remote services for those who would rather not to travel to my office. We have a process for conducting mediation and arbitration through online video chat.
